About

Description

Founded over 50 years ago, the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area (LCCRSF) is one of the oldest civil rights institutions on the West Coast. Their mission is to dismantle systems of oppression and racism, working towards an equitable and just society. LCCRSF focuses on various key areas of advocacy, including racial justice, economic justice, and immigrant justice.

In their pursuit of racial justice, LCCRSF fights against institutionalized white supremacy and the oppression of Black communities and other people of color. They challenge policies, institutions, and systems that perpetuate violence, injustice, and inequity towards BIPOC communities. To address economic disparities, LCCRSF is committed to closing the racial wealth gap and empowering communities of color.

They work to increase economic opportunities that enable individuals to have control over their livelihoods. Recognizing the challenges faced by immigrant communities, LCCRSF stands in solidarity with immigrants, challenging unjust systemic processes that impede fair treatment and civic engagement. LCCRSF harnesses the power of the Bay Area by partnering with communities directly through free legal service clinics and collaborating with grassroots groups and community partners.

They also develop a network of pro bono attorneys and volunteers who provide legal representation, research, and advocacy for systemic change. By the numbers, LCCRSF boasts over 1,000 active pro-bono volunteers, 29,000 donated hours, 1,800 cases, and 30+ impact/advocacy matters. For those looking to get involved or support their work, LCCRSF offers pro bono volunteer opportunities, careers, fellowships, and internships.
