## Description

The Leeds Historical Society is a community organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history of Leeds, Alabama. Through historic sites, artifacts, educational programs, and public activities, it helps residents and visitors connect with the area’s heritage. The Society owns and manages the Leeds Museum at the J.W. Bass House, a longstanding home for local history. The Bass House is undergoing renovations and is projected to reopen in April 2026. While it is closed, visitors can explore an exhibit at the Historic Leeds Depot, featuring Birmingham’s former Terminal Station, the story of John Henry, and the history of the original 1884 depot. The Depot is open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with group tours available by arrangement. The Society also promotes the Leeds Antique Trail, connecting visitors with antique shopping across the community. Its activities include lectures, interactive events, trails and tours, and preservation work. Membership opportunities, venue rentals, and information about Society properties and events are available through the organization.
