## Description

The National Resource for Network Biology (NRNB) is a research and technology initiative focused on advancing the science of biological networks and their application to biomedical discovery. An NIH Biomedical Technology Research Center supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences from 2011 through 2025, NRNB develops freely available, open-source software, databases, visualizations, and computing resources. These help researchers assemble and analyze networks involving genes, proteins, drugs, cells, and other biological systems to better understand how they function and how they may fail in disease.

Building on the widely used Cytoscape platform, NRNB offers tools and resources including Cytoscape.js, cBioPortal, GeneMANIA, NDEx, WikiPathways, and the Cytoscape App Store. Its research addresses differential networks, predictive analysis, and multi-scale network representations, with applications such as cancer-patient stratification and gene-ontology construction. NRNB also provides tutorials, courses, workshops, events, help-desk assistance, and collaboration opportunities, supporting researchers in learning and applying network-based methods. Through publications and community-developed applications, the resource helps extend network analysis for biomedical research.
