Heidelberg Materials North America is the leading supplier of cement, aggregates, ready mixed concrete, asphalt, and other building materials in the region. With a rich history dating back over a century, our company has grown through acquisitions, modernization, and increased productivity to become a multinational provider of construction materials. Our story began in 1897 when Lehigh Cement Company started as a small operation in Pennsylvania, producing Portland cement.

As the demand for concrete grew, so did our company. In 1977, Heidelberg Materials established a presence in the United States with the acquisition of Lehigh Cement Company, and later expanded into Canada in 1993. In 2007, we acquired Hanson PLC, further strengthening our position as a leading producer of cement and construction materials.

The integration of Essroc, a subsidiary of Italcementi, in 2016, solidified our presence in North America. Looking forward, we are excited to announce that in 2023, Lehigh Hanson will be rebranded as Heidelberg Materials. This new brand signifies our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and digital solutions, as we continue to serve our customers and lead the industry in heavy building materials.
