## Description

The Leibniz Institute on Aging – Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) is a research institute in Jena, Germany, dedicated to understanding the biology of aging and supporting research into healthy aging. Its scientists investigate aging at molecular, cellular, and systems levels, using multidisciplinary approaches that include evolutionary research, diverse model organisms, and advanced omics technologies. Research spans fundamental biological processes and topics such as muscle regeneration, cancer, and the ways aging affects bodily systems.

The FLI supports its research with a network of core facilities, services, animal facilities, and specialized units, providing infrastructure and technology platforms for scientific work. The institute also coordinates research, develops software and web resources, publishes findings, and works with national and international partners. Its activities include research training through the Leibniz Graduate School on Aging, which offers curriculum, application guidance, and opportunities for students and early-career researchers.

Alongside research, the FLI shares science with the public through conferences, lectures, school and student events, the Science & Society series, the Long Night of Sciences, and the MINT Festival. It also offers career opportunities and supports the administration needed for its research programs.
