## Description

Letzte Hilfe Deutschland is a nonprofit initiative that helps people feel better prepared to support someone who is seriously ill or approaching the end of life. Its central offering is the Letzte Hilfe course, a short, accessible program for members of the public, delivered by experienced hospice and palliative care professionals. In four 45-minute modules, participants learn about dying as a part of life, planning and decision-making, easing suffering, and saying goodbye. The course provides basic knowledge, practical guidance and encouragement to offer compassionate support at home or in the community.

The initiative also promotes open, respectful discussion of serious illness, death, grief and choices at the end of life, emphasizing that palliative care and hospice support can help people pursue a dignified, self-determined experience. Its work includes courses for children and teenagers, professional audiences and workplaces, as well as training and resources for course leaders. Letzte Hilfe works with hospice and palliative care practitioners across Germany and internationally.
