Leverage Research, founded in 2011, is a brand dedicated to funding independent exploratory research. Their mission centers around supporting scientific progress by helping researchers understand and improve methods of discovery, especially in emerging scientific fields. Initially, Leverage Research brought together a diverse group of independent researchers to collaborate on exploring various topics in the social sciences. Through introspection, mental structures, coordination, and research methodology, they identified early stage science as a crucial area of study. In 2019, the organization underwent restructuring to focus on aiding scientific advance, with a particular emphasis on the history of scientific discoveries. They analyze historical cases to gain insights into the scientific process, considering intellectual, social, technological factors, as well as the methods employed by individual scientists. Additionally, Leverage Research supports independent researchers and is looking into sharing their past exploratory work in psychology for broader study.
