## Description

Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society (LFHHS) is a registered charity dedicated to advancing the study of genealogy, heraldry and family history, with a particular focus on Lancashire. Founded in 1973 as the Rossendale Society for Genealogy and Heraldry, it now serves members locally and worldwide who have roots in the county.

The Society helps people research their ancestors through searchable records, transcriptions, family history resources and an information service. Its members have transcribed millions of records, made available in formats including books, booklets, microfiche, websites and CDs. Resources include surname and certificate searches, as well as crew-list records for more than 80,000 people connected with the ports of Fleetwood, Lancaster and Preston.

LFHHS has branches across Lancashire, a London and South branch, and specialist groups covering heraldry and Irish ancestry. Members can attend branch meetings and use branch libraries and collections. The Society also offers family history courses, a members’ forum, events, publications and a shop, and works to preserve historical records and make them accessible.
