## Description

LGBT History Month is a project of Equality Forum that celebrates the achievements and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Each October, the website features 31 LGBT Icons, presenting a new person each day through videos, biographies, bibliographies, downloadable images, and related educational resources. Its annual program introduces audiences to figures from a wide range of fields and historical periods, with the 2026 lineup including Giorgio Armani, Frieda Belinfante, Alvin Baltrop, Andrea Gibson, Patricia Highsmith, Calvin Klein, Abraham Lincoln, Alok Vaid-Menon, and Edmund White. The site also offers background information about LGBT History Month, details on the icon-selection process, and guidance for celebrating and sharing the month’s content. Visitors can explore an A-to-Z list of icons, take a quiz, find ideas for celebrations, and access materials for promoting the initiative on social media. Organizations and individuals can nominate icons, learn about selection criteria, join the mailing list, or support the project through tax-deductible donations.
