Local Government NSW (LGNSW) is the peak body for councils and related organizations in the state. As advocates, LGNSW represents its members and communities to policy decision-makers at both the state and federal levels. Currently, LGNSW is looking for a dedicated and skilled Senior Policy Officer (Social and Community) to join their team on a parental leave contract. In this role, the successful individual will research, develop, and implement policies and strategies in collaboration with stakeholders. They will provide advice, information, and capacity building to councils on emerging and ongoing policy issues. Specializing in the Social and Community sphere, the Senior Policy Officer will focus on areas such as Children and Youth Services, Economic Development, Museums & Libraries, Arts & Culture, Housing and Homelessness, and harm prevention. To be successful in this position, candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of social policy issues, particularly in Children's services, as well as a general understanding of the local government sector. Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills are essential. Furthermore, familiarity with relevant legislation, government policies, and council practices is necessary. This full-time role offers a salary of approximately $123,000 pro-rata, plus superannuation, and requires the ability to travel as required.
