## Description

Lord Howe Island Museum is a not-for-profit organization known as The Lord Howe Island Historical Society and Museum Incorporated. Its primary goal is to develop the museum as a community center for promoting Lord Howe Island's world heritage values and preserving the unique cultural values of the community. The museum houses a variety of permanent galleries and temporary displays that focus on the island's history, culture, environment, and scientific research. Visitors can explore exhibits on early settlement, administration, flying boats, shipping days, shipwrecks, the palm industry, tourism, geology, climate, biogeography, conservation, biodiversity, and more. In addition to the collections and displays, the museum also features a coral café, a museum shop, a research annex, and an AV room. The museum's dedicated curator, Ian Hutton, has contributed significantly to the knowledge of biodiversity and conservation on Lord Howe Island. The museum relies on volunteers, donations, and sponsorships to operate efficiently.
