## Description

Liam Gill is a Toronto-based startup lawyer, former technology founder and investor whose work focuses on supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening the city’s innovation and housing ecosystems. After growing his own technology startup to $35 million, he has devoted his experience to helping early-stage companies overcome barriers to growth. Gill leads the Capital Program at MaRS Discovery District, where he helps Canadian startups secure funding to scale in Canada and beyond. MaRS reports that its ventures have secured more than $14.7 billion since 2020. Alongside his startup work, Gill advocates for affordable, liveable housing in downtown Toronto. His housing efforts focus on policies that can keep condo fees low, maintain functioning buildings and support a thriving urban core. A born-and-raised Torontonian, he also writes a newsletter sharing ideas for improving Toronto, Ontario and Canada, and contributes to public discussion through media interviews and opinion pieces. His personal site offers information about his background, startup support, housing advocacy and writing, reflecting a broader mission to empower entrepreneurs and remove legal barriers to innovation.
