## Description

Liberation Route Europe (LRE) is a certified Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, dedicated to celebrating the end of World War II and the liberation of Europe. This ambitious project connects significant places and events across nine European countries, providing a multifaceted reflection on the war's impact and history. Stretching nearly 10,000 km, LRE develops a network of routes that enable walking, hiking, and cycling while tracing the allies' path from 1943 to 1945.

In collaboration with local hiking associations, LRE promotes over 200 audio spots across the Netherlands and Germany, offering poignant narratives in multiple languages, including English, Dutch, and German, that weave together major historical events with personal stories. The initiative is enriched by the 'Vectors of Memory', a unique design by architect Daniel Libeskind, marking these significant paths. The LRE Foundation actively engages with communities and organizations to preserve and enhance cultural heritage, making this vital history accessible and relevant to future generations.
