## Description

Life BAQUA is a brand that is part of the Environment and Climate Action subprogram of the LIFE Program of the European Union. Their main objective is to establish a new model of circular economy for the utilization of waste generated by banana cultivation, specifically the pseudostem or stalk of the plant. Through a mechanical process, two different raw materials can be obtained from this waste: high-quality natural fiber and residual pulp. The treated fiber will be used for the development of reinforced polymer-based composite materials, which can be applied to sectors such as automotive and agriculture. The residual pulp will be used to develop antioxidant additives for fish feed in aquaculture. Life BAQUA consists of a consortium of 6 European partners, including a university, three Spanish companies, a Swedish association, and a Slovenian company. With a budget of approximately 1.7 million euros, the project is 60% funded by the European Union. For more information, please visit their website.
