## Description

Limitr is a managed monetization platform for software products with usage-based pricing. Its engine runs inside an application to price, meter, and enforce usage in real time, helping teams manage costs and margins across plans, customer contracts, and custom deals. Pricing rules—including plans, entitlements, prices, limits, and usage policies—are defined in a versioned document and managed through Limitr Cloud. Changes can be published without a software release, and the in-process engine applies them across connected services.

The platform supports usage, seats, credits, hybrid pricing, trials, rollovers, outcome-based billing, and enterprise contract overrides. Teams can set customer-specific discounts or spend caps, gate API calls, track usage, and receive alerts when thresholds are reached. Limitr records usage in a cloud ledger and supports Stripe or customers’ own payment rails, with revenue data available for ERP or warehouse synchronization.

The core engine is open source and can be self-hosted wherever WebAssembly runs. Limitr Cloud adds a hosted policy editor, version history, rollback, billing tools, ledgers, and margin analytics.
