## Description

LinkedCulture is an independent research project developed by Le Monde Web, LLC and led by Edward Monk. It brings together more than 500,000 open-access museum records from ten institutions, letting visitors search collections in one place by an exact name or term—or by describing an object, subject, or idea. The service connects records that museums may catalog differently and offers ways to explore them through topics, maker profiles, maps, a visual “Galaxy,” videos, and research. Featured discoveries and examples show how artworks and objects relate across collections, including multiple impressions of the same print and works that reflect cross-cultural influence. LinkedCulture also publishes research on collection data, places, and the challenges of matching multilingual descriptions and artist records. For museums, it offers a pilot that turns existing collection data into a search prototype without requiring changes to collection-management systems, metadata, or websites. LinkedCulture is not affiliated with or endorsed by the institutions whose records it surfaces; canonical records remain with those institutions.
