## Description

Lizard Island Reef Research Foundation (LIRRF) supports scientific research and education at the Lizard Island Research Station on the northern Great Barrier Reef. The station, operated by the Australian Museum, is a globally relevant facility for coral reef research and education, and relies on the Foundation’s support for its ongoing development and maintenance.

LIRRF directs donated funds to programs that advance reef science and learning. Its support includes research grants, fellowships, research facilities and education initiatives, helping scientists undertake vital work and supporting the development of science careers. The Foundation also invites the public to contribute through donations and to stay connected with coral reef research and news from Lizard Island.

Through its website, LIRRF shares research stories, videos, events, reports and newsletters, offering updates on reef conditions and the station’s work. The Foundation highlights the Great Barrier Reef’s ecological importance and the challenges it faces, positioning scientific knowledge as essential to finding solutions. LIRRF acknowledges the Dingaal, Ngurrumungu and Thanhil peoples as Traditional Owners of the Lizard Island region.
