## Description

The Litchfield Historical Society preserves and shares the history of Litchfield through museums, a library, collections, research resources, and public programs. Its sites include the Litchfield History Museum, Ingraham Library, Tapping Reeve House & Litchfield Law School, and Tapping Reeve Meadow. The Society welcomes visitors to explore its exhibits and collections, with museum admission currently offered free to all through sponsorship from Gallagher.

Visitors and researchers can use the Society’s research databases and online resources, including ArchivesSpace, CollectionSpace, The Litchfield Ledger, and Bibliomation. The organization also provides virtual tours and a calendar of events, helping people engage with local history both in person and online.

Its tours and programs serve school and youth groups, adults, and seniors, and include birthday parties as well as resources for teachers and families. The Society invites community members to get involved through membership, donations, annual fund support, and sponsorship opportunities. With a shop and multiple ways to learn, visit, and contribute, the Litchfield Historical Society connects the community with the area’s history.
