# LITES Network

- **Primary alias:** `litesnetwork.org`

## Description

LITES is a research network focused on improving understanding and care in traumatic injury and emergency medical services. Its work brings together research sites, including hospitals and emergency medical services, to study critical prehospital and trauma-care topics. Current research areas include whole blood and hemorrhagic shock, traumatic brain injury, breathing and airway management, and prehospital injuries.

LITES supports ongoing projects and provides information for researchers, pre-hospital providers, and others interested in emergency research. The network also offers details about participating sites, ways to join, current researchers, and how to request further information about its work.

One study associated with LITES is the Prehospital Airway Control Trial, or PACT, which examines prehospital airway management. Because participants in studies such as PACT may be too ill to provide consent in advance, the research may use Exception from Informed Consent, a process explained through resources about PACT and emergency research. LITES shares updates through social media and provides researcher access through its website.
