About
Description
The Little Compton Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the rich history and cultural heritage of Little Compton, providing enrichment and enjoyment for the general public. Since its incorporation in 1937, the society has focused on maintaining and restoring significant local sites, such as the Wilbor House dating back to 1690 and the early 19th-century Friends Meeting House. In addition to site preservation, the society collects, conserves, and interprets historical documents and objects related to the houses, farms, and families of Little Compton.
Through education and outreach programs, as well as publications, they actively promote the area's history and encourage community engagement. For those interested in exploring the history of Little Compton, the society offers resources such as archived lectures, house histories, and a comprehensive online collection. Whether you're planning a visit, conducting research, or looking for volunteer opportunities, the Little Compton Historical Society is a valuable resource dedicated to preserving and sharing the area's fascinating past.
