About
Description
LMCC, short for Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, has been a champion for independent artists in New York City since its founding in 1973. They serve, connect, and create space for artists and the community to thrive. LMCC offers a wide range of services and programs to support the artistic community.
Artists can benefit from residencies, grants, workshops, and professional training across all disciplines. The Arts Center at Governors Island is a vibrant hub for cultural experimentation, providing artists and the public with a space for dialogue and exchange. Additionally, LMCC's Take Care Series offers interactive events, including performances, workshops, and talks, that emphasize the importance of caretaking.
Visitors to Governors Island can also enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating experience at the Arts Center Cafe & Bar. With a variety of beverages, light fare, and artisanal cheese and charcuterie boards, it's the perfect spot to recharge. If you're a Manhattan artist or arts organization, don't miss the opportunity to apply for the 2024 Manhattan Arts Grants.
And for anyone looking to get involved or support LMCC, there are volunteering and donation opportunities available. Stay connected with LMCC through their newsletter to receive information about artist opportunities, public programs, and more
