## Description

The London Musical Theatre Orchestra (LMTO) is a UK specialist orchestra dedicated to musical theatre. Bringing together world-class musicians and singers, it performs musical scores with a full symphonic orchestra and celebrates the genre through concerts and award-winning productions. The orchestra received the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Concert Production in both 2024 and 2025.

LMTO also offers its orchestra for hire, creating live music for concerts, events and recordings. Its monthly Sitz programme at Bishopsgate Institute, where it is orchestra in residence, invites musical theatre enthusiasts to learn and perform a complete score in a day. Professional and amateur performers take part, sharing their skills and building a supportive musical community.

As a registered charity, LMTO uses performance income and donations to support its work and help inspire the next generation of musicians. Its initiatives include Upbeat and Dev Scheme, which foster emerging talent. The orchestra also welcomes public involvement through Sitz and offers ways for individuals, trusts and foundations to support its charitable objectives.
