Founded in 1996 as EcoSystems Nepal by David and Haydi Sowerwine, their goal was to address the daily challenges faced by rural communities. They created the revolutionary WireBridge, a human-powered river-crossing system that has facilitated over 3 million trips across Nepal's deep river gorges. In 2008, Skip Stritter took over as CEO, and the organization was renamed Village Tech Solutions (VTS). In 2019, it was rebranded as Looma Education (LE), highlighting their dedication to education for all. Looma has successfully implemented various projects and has received recognition for its innovative approach, as featured in Stanford Magazine, Almanac, and Friends of Nepal. With a dedicated team of professionals and partnerships with volunteers and organizations worldwide, Looma continues to make a significant impact. Through their work, they aim to empower rural communities not only in Nepal but also in other developing countries.
