This innovative PME Model of Professional Support was developed by a group of dedicated teachers who completed a Middle Leaders Course in 2017-18. The model aims to provide sustainable and realistic mentoring for future PME students. Upon arrival at Loreto Community School, Milford, PME students are welcomed by Principal Mrs. M. O'Connor and have a meeting with the School Placement Coordinator Mr. K. McTaggart. They are then provided with a personal handbook containing essential guidelines and procedures for their placement. Throughout their placement, PMEs receive support from co-operating teachers who serve as mentors and offer valuable insights, strategies, and advice to improve their professional skills. Furthermore, PMEs are assigned mentors, including Mr. K. McTaggart, Ms. H. Ferry, and Mr. K. Harmon, who maintain regular contact and engage in reflective practice with the students. The model also includes check n connect meetings, encouraging open discussion and reflection on their learning experiences. The PME Model implemented at Loreto Milford ensures that PME students receive comprehensive support and guidance in their teaching journey, enabling them to become confident and effective educators.
