## Description

Los Artistas del Barrio is a Madrid-based cultural project dedicated to supporting, promoting and sharing the work of contemporary creators. Rather than keeping art within museums and galleries, it brings audiences closer to where artists work and create, opening homes, studios and other creative spaces to visitors. Its open-studio programme has focused on the Malasaña and Chueca neighbourhoods and nearby areas, connecting visitors with local artists, galleries, cultural institutions and associations. The project’s 2019 edition was scheduled for 28–29 September, and its website documents previous editions through artist listings, maps and itineraries. Alongside the open-studio events, Los Artistas del Barrio offers an online shop and a physical shop at Calle Embajadores 7 in Madrid. Its website also features artist interviews, a blog, press information and details about participation in events. The organisers have noted that the next annual open-studio edition has not yet been confirmed. Through these activities, the project promotes direct encounters between the public and Madrid’s contemporary art community.
