## Description

Lotus Foods is a brand that is passionate about rice. With a love for heirloom rice varieties from around the world, they began importing black rice in 1995, which they called Forbidden Rice® after the Chinese Imperial palace, the Forbidden City. Their goal was to share their love affair with rice and its exciting colors and flavors with American consumers. Little did they know that this would be the start of a journey to promote rice biodiversity, increase farm incomes, and improve sustainability. Today, Lotus Foods offers the highest quality organic rice and rice noodles sourced from smallholder farmers. By paying fair trade premiums and promoting organic and regenerative More Crop Per Drop® practices, they empower farmers and promote human and environmental welfare. They strive to make healthy rice-based products more accessible and advocate for a more just and equitable food system. Lotus Foods is changing how rice is grown around the world, leading the way in rice farming practices that mitigate climate change, empower women, and promote farmers' resilience. With their commitment to sustainable rice production, they are making a positive impact on the planet.
