Welcome to the Louisa County Historical Society! Founded in 1966, our mission is to bring the history of Louisa County to life. Located in the town of Louisa in Central Virginia, we are within driving distance of Charlottesville, Richmond, and Fredericksburg. At the Louisa County Historical Society, we celebrate the diversity of our community and strive to form relationships that lead to a more inclusive history.

Our vision is to enlighten the present by illuminating the past, inspiring a better future. We are committed to being trusted stewards of the historical resources in our care. Through engaging programs, tours, and educational initiatives, we aim to provide a deeper understanding of our shared history.

From The Sargeant Museum and The Michie House to The Trevilian Schoolhouse, our historical sites offer immersive experiences for visitors. To support our mission, we encourage community involvement. You can become a member, offer business sponsorship, or make a donation.

Volunteering opportunities are also available, whether it's staffing our museum, assisting with research, or contributing to fundraising efforts. Come and explore Louisa County's rich history with us at the Louisa County Historical Society!
