## Description

The Liquidity and Sustainability Facility (LSF) is a financial market initiative focused on strengthening African capital markets and improving access to financing. It aims to give African sovereign and corporate borrowers access to financial infrastructure comparable to international standards, helping lower the cost of capital and support sustainable investment. The LSF works with investors and institutional partners to increase liquidity in African bond markets and attract a broader range of investors.

Its strategy spans four areas: repo transactions in African Eurobonds, a curated General Collateral Basket of eligible sovereign and corporate bonds, market indices and related investment products, and support for regional financial market infrastructure. The iBoxx LSF USD African Sovereigns Index tracks the performance of the facility’s African sovereign Eurobond universe and can be licensed for ETFs and other index-based products. The LSF also seeks to advance cross-border settlement, bond issuance and domestic and regional repo markets under international governance standards. Through these activities, it supports more liquid financing markets and a more sustainable investment environment across Africa.
