## Description

Lounais-Suomen Lihastautiyhdistys ry is a regional advocacy and support association for people living with rare muscle diseases and their families and close ones. It operates across Southwest Finland and Satakunta. Its central purpose is to create peer support and shared activities for people whose lives are affected by a muscle condition, while offering guidance, information and counselling at different stages of life.

The association brings members together through meetings, peer gatherings and other events, including activities such as exercise and music rehearsals. It also provides opportunities for personal peer conversations and connects people with peer supporters. Its work includes communication and awareness-raising about muscle diseases, their varied effects, inclusion and equal treatment. The website features news, event information, membership details, and educational and lecture materials. It also lists facilities available for rent and an Avustajakeskus, or Assistance Centre. Through these resources, Lounais-Suomen Lihastautiyhdistys ry supports individuals and families in everyday life, represents their interests and fosters connection across its service area.
