The adventure follows Trey as he searches for his missing memories, meets new people and forms bonds with Animon, the mystical creatures he encounters. Players explore varied regions, uncover a heartfelt story of discovery and self-realisation, and build a team from more than 140 Animon species across 13 elemental types. Each creature has distinctive abilities, strengths and weaknesses, making thoughtful team-building and tactics important in battle. The game offers several ways to trade Animon, including searching for specific creatures, exchanging with friends and connecting with the wider player community. Players can catch or battle Animon through the Holoken, train and customise them in the Anispace, and prepare for challenges by crafting items and cooking at the Fountain. Battles include one-on-one duels and four-on-four team encounters.
