Sepon is owned by Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining Co., Ltd (Chifeng) and the Lao Government, with Chifeng holding a 90% stake. Chifeng is a reputed metals producer with operations in China and recently acquired the Wassa Gold mine in Ghana. They aim to expand into a mid-tier international mining company by acquiring high-quality gold projects.

Notably, Sepon is set to operate the first modern underground mine in Laos, extending its mine life and contributing to poverty reduction and sustainable development in host communities. With a commitment to sustainability, Sepon utilizes a whole-of-ore leach and SX-EW process to produce copper cathodes.
