About

Description

Lyndhurst Foundation, originally known as the Memorial Welfare Foundation, traces its roots back to the philanthropic endeavors of Thomas Cartter Lupton, a pioneer in the Coca-Cola bottling industry. Established in 1938 and later renamed after Lupton's family home in Chattanooga, Lyndhurst initially focused on primary health care, education, and arts and cultural activities. However, in the mid-1980s, the foundation shifted its focus towards revitalizing Chattanooga's downtown area, improving its schools, and enhancing its natural environment.

Today, Lyndhurst continues to prioritize the enrichment of the natural, educational, cultural, and urban environment of Chattanooga and its surrounding region. In 2012, the foundation underwent a significant organizational change, resulting in smaller family foundations and a restructured parent foundation governed by local trustees. Led by a dedicated team, Lyndhurst addresses various areas including conservation, parks, and recreation, urban design and development, and arts and culture.

With a commitment to supporting the community, Lyndhurst is a driving force behind positive change in the Chattanooga region. Visit their website for more information
