## Description

Maa is a grassroots charity dedicated to supporting mothers in resource-poor settings, specifically through providing free education, healthcare, and medication. Founded in 2016 by Dr. Aqil Jaigirdar at King's College London, Maa began with a small group of volunteers and has since expanded to over 250 dedicated individuals from the UK and Bangladesh. The organization's flagship project, JourneyMaa, sends volunteers to deliver maternal healthcare and educational seminars directly to communities, with follow-up care provided every two months by international teams to ensure sustainable health outcomes.

Currently focused on two villages in Bangladesh, Maa aims to establish a hub-spokes model of care, allowing remote mothers immediate access to treatment while connecting complex cases to centralized specialists. The team is supported by esteemed medical professionals and academic advisors, who lend their expertise to foster impactful, science-backed maternal care. With aspirations to replicate its successful model in other developing countries, Maa is paving the way for improved maternal health globally.
