About

Description

MAB Community Services, also known as the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, has been dedicated to creating opportunities and transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities since 1903. Founded by notable Bostonians, including Helen Keller, the organization has been at the forefront of developing community services for the blind. MAB Community Services consists of three divisions: the Ivy Street School, Adult Disability Services, and the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

These divisions work tirelessly to promote acceptance, inclusion, equality, and diversity. The Ivy Street School is a specialized residential and day high school for neurodivergent youth, providing them with the tools they need to achieve independence and prepare for adulthood. The Adult Disability Services division offers a range of supports, including residential and community living supports, occupational therapy, and vocational services, to individuals with developmental disabilities in various locations across Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired provides vision rehabilitation and support services to over 1,200 adults, primarily older adults, throughout the state. Their programs include access to low vision clinics, peer empowerment support groups, in-home vision rehabilitation, and access to assistive technology training. At MAB Community Services, their mission is to ensure that individuals with disabilities can live full and satisfying lives.

They are committed to creating an equitable and inclusive environment for all staff and participants. To learn more about MAB Community Services and the programs they offer, visit their website or connect with them on social media
