## Description

Mackay Tiger Moth Museum is a volunteer-supported aviation heritage organisation in South Mackay, Queensland. Founded in 1974 as the Tiger Moth Trust, it was established to purchase and preserve a locally restored Tiger Moth that was at risk of being sold overseas. Today, the Museum shares the region’s aviation history and offers visitors the chance to experience a vintage open-cockpit flight in one of its two classic de Havilland Tiger Moths.

Joy flights operate most weekends, weather permitting, from the Museum’s hangar beside the Mackay Aero Club. Visitors can choose 20-minute, 30-minute or one-hour flights, with coastal routes taking in locations such as the Pioneer River mouth, Mackay Harbour, Slade Point, Eimeo, Bucasia and Shoal Point; the longest option also extends toward Habana Bay and Seaforth. Flights can be purchased online or through Whitsunday Office Machines.

The Museum also provides access to aviation history articles, welcomes visitors to explore its hangar and aircraft on weekend mornings, and seeks volunteers for ground crew training.
