## Description

Magallanes Renovables is a renewable energy company founded in 2009 to develop technology that generates clean electricity from ocean tides and currents. Its work aims to support a net-zero-emissions future by harnessing a predictable energy source that remains largely untapped at industrial scale. The company is developing the ATIR, a floating tidal mill designed for high output. Its next-generation model features two rotors with a combined capacity of 1.5 megawatts.

Magallanes Renovables draws on established technologies from the wind and maritime industries to reduce technical risk, while focusing its development efforts on challenges specific to tidal power. The company emphasizes robust equipment and high energy output alongside lower capital and operating costs. Its activities include tidal-energy technology development and related projects, with a focus on making marine renewable energy more practical to deploy. Based in Spain, Magallanes Renovables also operates through its UK entity, Magallanes Tidal Energy Ltd. The company has received innovation recognition and support through Spanish and European programmes for research, development and business innovation.
