## Description

Mahinakealo Dermatology is a dermatology practice serving the Big Island community from offices in Hilo and Kamuela, Hawaii. Its team provides care for skin health and appearance, with medical services for concerns such as skin cancer screening and surgical excision, rashes, acne, warts, and vitiligo. The practice also offers elective aesthetic treatments, including facials and peels, skin tightening, reduction of brown and red spots, laser hair reduction, hair restoration, fat reduction and body sculpting, vein reduction, and tattoo removal. Cosmetic options include injectables such as Xeomin and Restylane Kysse, as well as microneedling and DiamondGlow treatments. Mahinakealo Dermatology also offers skin care products, including cleansers and moisturizers. The practice distinguishes medically necessary services, which may be covered by health insurance, from elective cosmetic procedures, which are not covered. Its name comes from a Hawaiian phrase meaning “back a cliff, front a moon,” an expression referring to a person’s beauty. Patients can contact either island location or use the patient portal.
