## Description

Maine Climate Action NOW! (MCAN) is a Maine-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit and statewide coalition of progressive grassroots organizations working to build the climate action movement. Its mission is to catalyze transformative education and action in response to the climate and ecological emergency, while amplifying the voices of youth, frontline communities, and people historically excluded from climate discussions and decision-making.

MCAN connects climate action with social, racial, and economic justice, advocating for a transition to zero carbon emissions by 2030 and the equitable implementation of clean renewable energy, ecological land-use practices, and community-led initiatives for a resilient Maine. The organization also centers climate justice in its support for Wabanaki sovereignty and in its commitment to recognizing Indigenous histories, voices, and relationships with the land.

MCAN’s work includes climate education and science resources, policy support, climate justice films and stories, energy democracy initiatives, and information about coalition successes. It shares news and resources, invites organizations to join its coalition, and offers opportunities to support its work through donations and subscriptions.
