MEMA, which stands for the Maine Energy Marketers Association, is a non-profit 501c(6) trade association that represents over 300 members. These members consist of heating oil, propane, biofuels, and motor fuels providers, as well as convenience store owners. In fact, our members own and operate approximately 70% of Maine's 1,300 convenience stores. They sell over one billion gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel, and distribute more than 90% of the propane sold in the state each year. Our association also has more than 175 associate members who provide goods and services to petroleum dealers and their customers. With our members' combined efforts, we help keep nearly one million Mainers warm and cozy, serving over 400,000 households. Our purpose is to promote the best interests of our association and members and to support the sale of heating and motor fuels, convenience store operations, and related industries and products. MEMA is proud to manage the MEMA Technical Education Center (MTEC), a leading non-profit HVAC-R training facility in the state. This facility, overseen by an all-volunteer Education Committee, ensures that employees receive cutting-edge education in line with industry trends and best practices. To further extend our services, we offer a consumer-facing resource called Maine Energy Facts. This resource provides valuable home heating advice to Mainers 24/7, aiming to inform and educate homeowners about their energy options.
