## Description

Maison de Poligny is a family-history website devoted to the Poligny lineage and its place in the history of Poligny, the Jura region, and Franche-Comté. It presents historical accounts, illustrated material, genealogical information, family residences across different periods, archival documents, and a bibliography, alongside a family tree and contact details. The site traces the family’s claimed origins to Girart de Roussillon, associated with the founding of Grimont Castle, and describes connections through marriage to Capetian and Burgundian lines, as well as families in Flanders and Switzerland. It recounts the family’s historic roles in regional government and administration, including service as constables and baillis, and responsibilities connected with the castles and prévôtés of Poligny and Dole. The narrative also explores the family’s lands, economic prosperity through salt extraction, viticulture, and trade, and the effects of plague, war, and the French Revolution. Visitors can learn about the family’s heraldic arms and motto, “A Dieu, Playse.” The website serves as a historical and genealogical resource rather than a commercial product or service provider.
