## Description

Mami Wata is an inspiring African surf apparel brand founded in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2017, driven by a deep love for surfing, design, and the rich culture of Africa. The name Mami Wata, derived from West African pidgin English meaning 'Mother Ocean,' embodies the spirit of African waters and the mermaid-like figure revered across the continent. The brand's mission goes beyond fashion; it seeks to connect the world to the vibrancy and power of African surf culture while making a positive impact.

Mami Wata offers a diverse range of products including surfboards, apparel like tees, shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, hoodies, headwear, and accessories. Committed to sustainability, many items are designed and manufactured locally in Africa, supporting job creation and local economies. A portion of sales contributes to the Mami Wata African Surf Trust, benefitting youth surf therapy organizations. Recognized with the Nelson Mandela Change Maker Award in 2023, Mami Wata champions the fusion of surfing, culture, and community engagement.
