## Description

The Mammal Society is a registered charitable organisation working to secure a future in which mammal populations thrive within healthy, diverse ecosystems that benefit people and nature. Focused on mammals across the British Isles and Ireland, it supports research, conservation, education and public participation. Its work includes projects and surveys that improve knowledge of species and populations, such as research into seals and small mammals, the National Polecat Survey, and initiatives to monitor harvest mice. The Society also shares information about British mammals and practical guidance on recording wildlife, identifying signs such as animal droppings, and understanding why mammals matter.

People can get involved through the Local Groups Network, where enthusiasts and volunteers can join surveys, record sightings and support mammal conservation. The Society offers an on-demand learning library, training, events, publications and news, and runs activities including National Mammal Week, an annual conference and competitions. Supporters can become members, donate, fundraise, partner with the organisation or subscribe to its newsletters.
