## Description

Mandrake Bio is a full-stack protein-design company building AI-native infrastructure for next-generation gene editing. Instead of modifying existing enzymes, it designs molecular systems from the ground up around the requirements of specific applications. Its platform combines TerraBase, an interconnected DNA and protein data resource, proprietary sequence- and structure-aware generative models, and purpose-built assays conducted in its wet lab and partner network. Experimental results feed back into each design cycle, helping the company refine its candidates; Mandrake reports double-digit experimental hit rates.

The company is developing gene editors for applications including tissue-culture-free crop editing and in vivo gene therapies. Its stated goals include shortening crop-editing timelines and designing editors around delivery needs. Mandrake also shares research, technical notes and ideas through its blog, and plans open-science challenges and fellowship programs for researchers and builders. The company invites partnership inquiries and offers career opportunities for people interested in making biology more programmable. Through its combination of computational design and experimental validation, Mandrake aims to move biological engineering beyond discovery toward purpose-built tools.
