## Description

Māori Maps is a pioneering initiative dedicated to connecting Māori descendants with their marae, the profound cultural centers that embody Māori identity and heritage. Founded in 2007 by Dr. Paul Tapsell and Rereata Makiha under the Te Potiki National Trust, it serves as a vital resource for both Māori individuals and visitors, fostering meaningful interactions with these culturally significant spaces.

The platform allows users to search for marae by various criteria, such as name, hapū, and iwi, and provides essential contact details, directions, and photographs. This enables Māori youth to strengthen their connection to their ancestral roots while inviting visitors to respectfully engage with Māori culture.

Managed by an experienced team, Māori Maps ensures up-to-date information and easy access to marae. The project also collaborates with notable professionals for website development and photography, highlighting the importance of these locations as both physical gathering spots and spiritual homes for Māori kin groups. Embrace Māori Maps as your guide to exploring the rich tapestry of New Zealand’s indigenous culture.
