## Description

MapRVA is a vibrant collective of geospatial enthusiasts based in Richmond, VA, dedicated to enhancing their city through the power of mapping. The group meets bi-weekly at various locations, including local breweries and libraries, fostering both social interaction and productive collaboration. Their primary focus is on contributing to OpenStreetMap (OSM), a globally accessible database that allows anyone to edit and improve geographic data. By enhancing OSM, MapRVA helps create quality routing and cartographic services for residents and visitors alike.

As a proud affiliate of OpenStreetMap US, a nonprofit organization that supports OSM's growth in the United States, MapRVA is committed to maintaining local editing guidelines for effective mapping in Richmond. The group's projects include historical mapping initiatives, documenting murals, and assessing pedestrian infrastructure. MapRVA invites community members to join their meetings or collaborate on geospatial projects, reinforcing their mission to serve as a valuable resource for Richmond residents interested in maps and GIS applications.
