## Description

Maquis Rhône-Azergues is the website of the Amicale des Anciens des Maquis de l’Azergues, an association dedicated to preserving the history and memory of the French Resistance in the Azergues Valley. The site focuses particularly on the FTPF maquis formed in the area in March 1943, about 50 kilometres north of Lyon, and on the fighters, families, and local residents connected with their story. Its purpose is to honour those who fought and died, share historical accounts, and ensure their contribution to France’s liberation is remembered.

Visitors can explore biographies, personal testimonies, photographs, documents, and information about commemorative plaques and memorials. The site also publishes the association’s bulletins, news about ceremonies and other events, historical research, and updates on commemorations in the valley. Educational material introduces the maquis to younger audiences, while a bibliography and related links support further research. The association invites readers to report historical inaccuracies and provides information about its activities, membership, and public commemorations.
