## Description

Mara Elephant Project is a conservation organization working across Kenya’s Greater Mara Ecosystem to protect elephants and the habitats they depend on. Its vision is a stable, healthy elephant population living peacefully alongside local communities. The project addresses three interconnected threats: poaching, rising human-elephant conflict as populations and farms expand, and habitat loss that harms biodiversity and threatens important water sources.

MEP combines fieldwork, research, and technology to support conservation. It monitors elephants and the ecosystem using innovative techniques, develops bespoke tools to evaluate conservation data, and turns findings into actionable information. Its protection work deploys more than 100 Kenyan rangers and researchers to safeguard elephants, habitats, communities, and ecological connectivity. The organization also works collaboratively with government partners and shares updates and educational resources about its work.

People can support MEP by donating, joining its newsletter, or visiting the MEP Store. Mara Elephant Project USA, Inc. is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
