## Description

Matmut Marathon de Biarritz – Pays Basque is a running event that brings together sport, local scenery, and the lively atmosphere of the Basque region. Scheduled for 24 and 25 April 2027, it invites participants to take on one of seven race formats across Biarritz and the surrounding area. The flagship marathon follows a scenic route linking the ocean, villages, and countryside, while the Marathon Relay lets teams of three share the challenge. Runners can also choose an intramural half-marathon with a seafront section, the 14-kilometre Boucle des Plages, or a 10-kilometre race suited to a wide range of abilities. The 5-kilometre Matmut #NésPourBouger supports access to physical activity for children with disabilities or in hospital, in partnership with Premiers de Cordée. Younger participants can join one of four supervised kids’ races, ranging from 400 metres to 1.6 kilometres at Stade Aguilera. The event also provides practical information, training resources, registration, and updates through its website and newsletter. In 2026, it welcomed 18,000 participants and relied on 850 volunteers.
