## Description

Marathon Team Series (MTS) brings team competition to existing half marathons and marathons, creating a shared experience for everyday runners, seasoned athletes, clubs, and solo participants. Its format is designed to build camaraderie beyond race day, encouraging teams to train, travel, compete, and celebrate together.

Teams include seven runners, with the top five finishers contributing to a time-based score. All members run the full race rather than taking part in a relay. Finish times are adjusted using age- and gender-based bonuses, with scoring modeled on qualifying standards from the Boston Marathon and New York Road Runners Half Marathon. This approach helps runners of different ages, genders, and abilities contribute to their team’s result. Participants must be at least 21, and solo runners can be matched with a team.

MTS also supports race directors who want to add its team competition to an event, offering setup, digital scoring tools, support, and nationwide visibility. Sponsors can partner with the series for on-site and digital exposure to its running community.
