## Description

The Marden History Group preserves and shares the history of Marden, a village in the Weald of Kent, England, about nine miles south of Maidstone. Through parish records, oral histories, photographs, documents and artefacts, the group traces the village’s story from its origins in early woodland clearings to times within living memory. Its online archive explores local people, family histories, buildings, agriculture, transport, wartime experiences and community life, with subjects ranging from hop picking and oast houses to the railway and notable residents.

The group also operates the Marden Library and Heritage Centre, where visitors can browse digital records, physical files, historic documents, pictures and artefacts. Volunteers support research visits, and members can access the group’s digitised records. The centre offers self-authored books about Marden for sale, alongside the group’s publications and research resources. Membership is open to people with an interest or connection to the village, and the group welcomes contributions that help enrich its collection.
